A 40-year-old Laguna Beach resident was hospitalized and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after her car hit another vehicle and rolled over on the 73 Freeway on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 2014 Lexus SUV flipped near the transition to Laguna Canyon Road at 2:55 p.m., CHP spokesman Aaron Rothberg said. The Laguna Beach woman suffered a head cut and neck injuries and was transferred to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, he said.
Rothberg said it appears the Lexus was headed toward the Laguna Canyon Road offramp but cut back onto the 73 and hit a Mercedes SUV. The driver of the Mercedes, a 50-year-old Irvine woman, was not injured, Rothberg said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has more information is encouraged to call the CHP office at (949) 487-4000.
