Skateboarder injured after hitting truck

A 14-year-old Laguna Beach resident suffered moderate injuries after he hit a truck while riding his skateboard Tuesday morning on South Coast Highway, Laguna Beach police said.

The skateboarder was heading north and turned left into a marked crosswalk at Anita Street at 10:05 a.m., Capt. Jason Kravetz wrote in an email.

He narrowly missed hitting a northbound car but soon struck a Toyota pickup headed south on South Coast Highway, Kravetz said. The boy was not wearing protective gear, police added.

Police did not arrest or cite anyone and the cause of the collision is under investigation.
