Laguna Beach police will conduct DUI checkpoints throughout the city this weekend, according to a news release.
Officers will position themselves from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday in areas that have had high numbers of collisions and arrests involving driving under the influence, the release said.
In the past three years, 37 DUI-related collisions in Laguna have resulted in one death and 52 people injured, according to police.
Funding for this enforcement program comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
