A 30-year-old Fountain Valley man died in a crash with a big rig on the Orange (57) Freeway in Anaheim Wednesday.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla, which slammed into the rear of a big-rig tractor trailer truck on the freeway near Ball Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the truck told officers he was entering the freeway from Ball when he saw the Corolla in the far right lane going at a high rate of speed narrowing in on him, the CHP reported.
The truck driver veered to the right to avoid the car, which clipped the truck’s trailer and “impaled the Toyota under the trailer,” according to the CHP.
The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the truck driver avoided injury.
