Pedestrian dies of injuries after car crash in Fountain Valley
A pedestrian died in a hospital after being struck in a crash involving multiple vehicles in Fountain Valley on Tuesday, officials said on Thursday.
Fountain Valley police released a statement that said officers responded to the traffic collision on Warner Avenue, east of Brookhurst Street, at 11:04 p.m. A male victim was found unresponsive at the scene in the westbound lanes.
The statement said the victim was taken to an area hospital, but died of his injuries. The Orange County coroner’s office and Fountain Valley police were working to confirm the identity of the victim.
The drivers of two vehicles involved in the crash — a blue Acura RDX and a gray BMW X3 — stayed at the scene at the southwest corner of Mile Square Regional Park, and cooperated with investigators, officials said. A preliminary investigation has hinted that more vehicles may have been involved in the collision.
Fountain Valley police investigators were also trying to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
