Mailbag: County must boost JWA hours
Listen up, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. Orange County, which is in a budget crisis, is spending $540 million to expand John Wayne Airport.
The only way the county can recoup this sum is to increase the airport operating hours, number of flights and number of passengers.

City could use more bike racks
I applaud the installation of the bike stand at Banzai Bowls and hope it’s the first of many new ones added to Orange County (“Parking it with a chain and kickstand,” May 27). I have recently started running as many errands as possible using my bike, and often I have to improvise to secure it while I shop. I’d also like to see more bike lanes; I never realized how many major streets didn’t have them until I started biking more.

Vacation photo a pleasant surprise
Thank you for publishing our 30th anniversary photo in Sunday’s Daily Pilot (On Vacation: “French Polynesia: Lance Jencks and Barbara Beck celebrate their 30th anniversary on the island of Huahine.”
We were surprised and pleased at how large you ran the photo! One neighbor said it looked like he should frame it for his wall like movie stars.

Doing cartwheels over coverage
Thanks, Daily Pilot and sponsors, for organizing the Daily Pilot Cup soccer tournament for our kids! My daughter was doing cartwheels this morning when she read the recap of her game Tuesday. What a great community event — well done.
P.S. Go California School Cougars!
