Man killed in early morning crash identified
A 40-year-old man killed Friday morning has been identified, police said.
Gary de la Rosa of Costa Mesa was pronounced dead after being hit by a 49-year-old Costa Mesa woman driving a gray Jaguar, police said in a news release.
The crash occurred near Bay Street and Harbor Boulevard about 5:20 a.m., said Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Victor Bakkila.
De la Rosa was pushing an empty wheelchair across the street outside the crosswalk, according to police. He died at the scene from head trauma.
Police also examined the woman, who was later released from the scene, according to police.
