Orange County chefs will battle it out to raise funds for local nonprofits

He’s a French-born and trained executive chef who has won a number of awards while owning and running restaurants in Newport Beach for nearly 30 years.
She was raised in an Italian-American family in South Philadelphia and learned the traditions, techniques and secrets of Italian cooking that eventually earned her honors for pizza, bread and pasta.
Now, chefs Pascal Olhats of Cafe Jardin and Pascal, and Linda Johnsen of Filomena’s Italian Kitchen and Market will compete in OC Chef Life’s “Battle of the Chefs,” a culinary competition at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at The Fifth Rooftop restaurant and bar in Anaheim.
Country singer Matt Rogers will host the event, which will be filmed in front a live studio audience. The six-part series, which is entering its second round, features a competitor format with the winners of the preliminary rounds competing in semifinal and final rounds in January.
The chefs — who will be determined for future matches — will raise funds for a community nonprofit. The second round benefits Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation.
